LA Galaxy, EuroSports Soccer, Bownet and HO Soccer team up to give the ultimate soccer player and goalie a chance to strut their stuff in an exciting one-on-one competition. The competitions will be held in San Diego County, Orange County, San Bernardino County and Los Angeles County in June and July, with finals on August 11 and 12 at the University of California, Irvine.
This competition is the first of its kind, giving players the chance to showcase their skills in one-on-one games. The intense games will last three minutes, calling on players to not only showcase their skills, but to also show their endurance. If players make it as far as the semi-finals and finals, they will be called upon to give their best.
"Players will definitely want to bring their 'A' game to the semi-finals and finals," said Paul Caligiuri, U.S. soccer legend and H2O Overdrive athlete ambassador. "LA Galaxy is sending their academy scouts to the semi-finals and finals to scour the fields for promising talent."
The entry fee is $35 a piece, and just for signing up, players will receive an LA Galaxy game ticket, a t-shirt, and a "swag" bag, which will contain numerous goodies.
Winners and runner-ups will be presented at the LA Galaxy game at the Home Depot Center, in front of thousands of fans. The winners will also be awarded a private meeting session with an LA Galaxy team member. For only $35, it is a great oppurtunity to showcase your skills and help get your name out to the professional soccer community.
And if you aren't lucky enough to win, no worries. There is still a lot of incentive to give it a shot.
"We're really ramping it up by rewarding all registrants, semi-finalists, and winning players with lots of great prizes," said Thomas Dooley, U.S. Soccer Hall of Famer and H2O Overdrive™ athlete ambassador. "Teaming up with these great companies has allowed us to give even more cool stuff away. Coaches and clubs should definitely get involved because the teams of the winning players, and the teams who have the most players registered, will win professional grade balls and portable nets for their entire team."
Even if you don't live near California, H2O Overdrive says they will work to expand the tournament next year.
"The H2O Overdrive Ultimate Soccer Player and H2O Overdrive Ultimate Soccer Goalie escalate and expand with every passing hour," said Randy Olshen, co-founder of Innovative Health Solutions LLC (IHS), the maker of H2O Overdrive H2O Overdrive HYDRATE. "The prizes this year are exceptional and we are already considering expanding the event to include even more locations across the country next year. Competitors will want to hurry and register though, registration is limited this year."
