The first of the major transfer rumors is that striker Demba Ba (Newcastle), will be exiting St James Park to join another team. The Newcastle forward has been linked with transfers to Manchester United and Tottenham. The Senegal international has hence denied these rumors, making statements like this on Twitter:
"Like I said on Twitter, it's just rumors. People talk, but what I can say is that none of the teams that have been talked about have approached me. I'm still a Newcastle United player."
The striker netted 16 goals last season for Newcastle, and proved to be a vital part of the team.
Another big rumor is that the Croatian midfielder Luca Modric will be leaving Tottenham and joining a bigger club. Clubs like Real Madrid, Manchester United and Barcelona have showed interest, but it seems that Real Madrid are the only serious contenders. Real Madrid have reportedly put up a 35 million dollar bid for the midfielder. Coming off of a very successful season, it seems that Madrid still feel they are missing a midfield maestro, something that rivals Barcelona don't lack.
The Real Madrid transfer seems almost inevitable, and is bound to be announced sometime soon.
The biggest surprise/transfer rumor going around this summer surrounds Robin van Persie. Shortly after the Dutchman announced his departure from Arsenal, many clubs have reportedly making bids on the striker.
'I’ve thought long and hard about it, but I have decided not to extend my contract. You guys, the fans, have of course the right to disagree with my view and decision and I will always respect your opinions."
This doesn't mean that RVP will leave Arsenal. Arsenal intends on keeping the striker, and they are trying to persuade Robin to stay. Van Persie was unhappy with Arsenals poor Champions League and EPL performances, even though he had an outstanding personal season.
"I personally have had a great season but my goal has been to win trophies with the team and to bring the club back to its glory days."
Reported interests include the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United. The two city rivals have been reportedly making moves to obtain the Dutch striker. The top EPL scorer would benefit either club, and both are trying to snatch RVP. It is reported that Van Persie favors United and Sir Alex Ferguson, but Mancini's EPL Champions still have a chance. Only time will tell with this exciting striker.
