Mizuno is not a very well known brand here in the US, and they are constantly innovating new ideas to earn their spot as one of the top boot companies. Their latest release, the Mizuno Supersonic Wave III, should be a boot considered by all players.
Mizuno continues to express their focus on quality, equipping the Wave III with a full kangaroo leather upper.
For those who have never heard about the Supersonic Wave series, the boot features a unique, innovative technology called the Feather Touch System. This technology has been featured on past models, and is incorporated into the third generation. The system utilizes pieces of memory foam under the upper to provide a better feel and touch on the ball. This also assists with dribbling and first touch.
The boot also features Mizuno's Tiger Claw stud configuration. This provides for optimal traction and acceleration. As you can see, the studs are a mix of conical and balded studs. The four back studs closely resemble those found in the Nike Tiempo, while the others resemble that of the Nike T90 Laser.
The launch colorway is a nice black and yellow combination. Mizuno really hit the nail on the head with this colorway.
The boots weigh in at a competitive 265 g (9.3 oz), which is very reasonable for a "heritage" style boot. I'm surprised on how well Mizuno has been able to shave weight while still employing the highest quality materials.
The boots will retail for $200, and can be found on Pro Direct Soccer. What do you guys think of these boots?
