Blog: Nike Tiempo Legend IV Euro 2012 First Thoughts

About two months ago I got my first pair of Vapor 8's for testing. Within the first few times I used them they began to rip. After bringing them back and having to get another pair, the second pair had even worse problems. So when I went back to NikeTown in Boston, I decided it was time to switch things up a bit. This time I had my eyes on the new Clash Tiempo Legend IV EC12! I thought they were an amazing pair of boots when I first saw them at the NikeTown! Little did I know that these pair of boots would go on to be one of my favorite, if not my all time favorite, pair of boots!

The first time I tried out my new Clash Tiempos was when my team  scrimmaged the U14 D2 Team.(We are a U14 D1 team) When I put the Tiempo's on and started to warm up, I noticed how comfortable they were. They felt like they had already been broken in and were ready for the game coming out of the box. As I dribbled around in them I noticed how the ball stuck to the Kangaroo Leather. But when I shot,  I noticed that these boots were one of a kind. When the ball took off from my foot I felt nothing on my toe. With my Vapor 8s, since the upper was a very soft and thin, I always felt my foot hitting against the ball, which was very uncomfortable. But with the extra durable, thick Kangaroo Leather upper on the Tiempo Legend IV, I didn’t feel a thing.

Another thing that I really love about the boot is the design. The design scheme on this boot is a striker white/black combination. Even though white and black are two of the most basic colors, I still felt like I was standing out on the field. To go along with the awesome design on the upper, the stud configuration is a perfect combination for the comfortable and durable upper. The stud configuration on these bad boys features a four stud config in the back, which makes this boot one of the best I've ever had. Due to the problems I experienced with the two back studs on the Vapor 8, the security and balance I felt with the four back studs on the Tiempo was great. The problem I had with my Vapors was that the two stud config worked awful on turf, a surface I play on a lot. The other studs in the front of the Vapor 8 also began to wear off after use on a hard grass surface. I found that the Tiempo studs endure and perform better on turf than the Vapor 8's.

The last thing that I love about this boot so far is the durability. The Kangaroo Leather upper ensures that the boot will stay together. I have had no problems so far with major scuffs (of course a few very minor grass marks). I have also had no problems with tears or rips except for a very minor separation near the toe box of one of my boots. But no boot is perfect, so I take nothing away from the Tiempo.

So far I have loved the comfort, quality, and style of the Nike Tiempo Legend IV EC12. I highly recommend  that you pick up a pair of these quality Tiempo Legend IVs. These boots are perfect for players that are looking to switch things up from the standard speed boots.

Expect a full review of the Nike Tiempo Legend IV EC12 next week. But if you haven’t already be sure to check out and "Like" Cronin-SR USA on Facebook for more updates.
