Adidas F50 Adizero SL On Verge of Release?

Could this latest colorway be foretelling the release of the Adizero SL? Basing observations on leaked "Adizero SL" images, this new official Adizero colorway seems to follow the same general design. 

Note: This article is not aimed to be a leak, just trying to reach a conclusion.

 Today, images of a new, official Adizero were released. This new Adizero colorway has a different design than the regular Adizero, with a webbed like print running along the boot. Advertised as the regular Adizero (According to World Soccer Shop; link here), the design of the boot has drastically changed.This change in design matches the same design of leaked "Adizero SL" images that have been circulating for a while. I believe this design change is foretelling the release of the new SL version of the Adizero. The boot pictured above is obviously the regular Adizero (confirmed by sites like World Soccer Shop, Soccer.com, etc), but I think Adidas are releasing this to assist/set-up their SL release.

The SoccerPro link seems to be describing the launch colorway, pictured below.

The colorway is listed as "Phantom with Warning and Metallic Silver". This seems to match that of the boot.


These types of links usually begin to pop up days before major releases, so it seems that Adidas are preparing to unleash this new boot.

Here is another from Pro Direct Soccer, which goes into further detail of the difference between the Adizero and the Adizero SL. Here is what they say:

ProDirect lists the boot in a Green/Pop/Black colorway, which is most likely going to be the secondary colorway. No leaked images match this color description.  

Here is a comparison of the two boots; the first is the SL, the second is the regular.

As you can see, the two boots feature the same webbed design on the outside. The leaked image is rumored to be the Adizero SL, and the new official image looks identical. The main design of the boot looks very similar to the regular Adizero, and the SL version seems to be following in the footsteps of the Adizero Prime.

 The SL also retails for $300, a somewhat ridiculous price for only 15g less.

This new boot is most likely the same boot that Messi was spotted testing a while back. He was spotted testing a black-out boot in training, one that was most likely the SL. For that full article, click here.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if Adidas announce the Adizero SL sometime this week. Since a lot of links are showing up on retail stores, it seems that the SL is on the verge of release.
